Championnat de France 2026 — Two Days In at Romorantin

The 2026 French National Gliding Championships at Romorantin-Pruniers is running from 7 to 13 June, with competition in the Standard/15m combined class — incorporating the General and Women's categories — and the 20m Two-Seater class. Two contest days are now complete and the standings are taking shape.

Day One — 7 June

The Standard/15m field of 33 starters flew a 336 km fixed circuit taking in Villefranche, Richelieu, Buzancais and Herbault before returning to Romorantin. Louis Bouderlique from Aéro Club de Picardie-Amiens Métropole, flying an LS 8e neo, took the day's maximum 1,000 points at 84.06 kph over a flight time of just under four hours. Philippe Lata, Aéroclub d'Issoudun, on a Discus 2a, finished second at 82.46 kph, with Aurélien Doriat and Xavier Tanguy sharing third, both recording 81.61 kph.

In the Women's category, Mariline Abadie Bérard on a JS3 15m led the finishing women, while Lucía Esteban Loring, flying hors concours on a Discus 2a, completed the full task at 79.47 kph.

Thirteen of the 33 starters did not complete the course, with distances ranging from 190 to 299 km, and three pilots received start-height penalties for departing above the declared maximum altitude.

The 20m Two-Seater class flew a 307.5 km circuit via Leclerc, La Roche Posay, Reuilly and Blois. De Péchy & de Péchy, Planeurs d'Ille-et-Vilaine, on an Arcus M, took the full 1,000 points completing the task in 3 hours 21 minutes at 91.46 kph. Svobodny & Fierain followed at 89.45 kph, with Christophe Abadie third at 85.77 kph.

Romorantin 2

Day Two — 8 June

The Standard/15m class flew Task 2, a course from Romorantin taking in Villefranche, Châtillon-sur-Indre, Blois and Souesmes, with a nominal task distance of 346.78 km and a set duration of two hours.

Aurélien Doriat, Aéro Club du Poitou, on a Discus 2a, took the day win with 637 points at a corrected speed of 90.92 kph over two hours and 28 minutes. Daniel Vincent Genod, Centre Aéronautique de Beynes, on an AS33Es, was second on points despite posting the day's fastest raw speed at 93.48 kph, finishing with 630 points. Julien Duboc, Ténarèze Gascogne Vélivole, Ventus 2ax, was third with 613 points at 90.82 kph.

Céline Rault, Les Planeurs de Saintonge, on a LAK-19 15m, was fourth at 85.80 kph with 588 points, the leading finisher among the Women's category on the day. Mariline Abadie Bérard, JS3 15m, was eleventh overall with 559 points.

Nine pilots did not make it back to Romorantin, including Cassiopée Braconnier who covered 175.99 km, Céline Montorio on 169.99 km and Maxime Barret on 138.41 km. Three pilots — Philippe Napoleon, Anaïs Gaubert and Isabelle Romanet — did not fly.

In the Two-Seater class, Task 2 sent the 16 gliders on a 333.26 km course via Leclerc, Chemillé-sur-Indrois, Blois and Vierzon, with a minimum duration of 1 hour 45 minutes. Svobodny & Fierain, Centre Vélivole du Val de l'Eure, on their Arcus M, reversed the day one order by taking the win at 103.72 kph for the maximum 521 points. Christophe Abadie was second at 99.27 kph with 490 points, and Chatelain & Beloeuil, Albert VV, also on an Arcus M, took third at 92.17 kph with 441 points. Day one winners de Péchy & de Péchy dropped to fourth on 419 points, recording 89.02 kph. Four crews — Julien Henry, Henry & Bigaré, Boilley & Rouaux and Mauvais & Kasmi — did not complete the course.

Overall standings after two tasks

In the Standard/15m class, Aurélien Doriat leads on 1,596 points after his day two win, with Louis Bouderlique second on 1,579 and Daniel Vincent Genod third on 1,569. Julien Duboc sits fourth on 1,564, just five points off the podium. Mariline Abadie Bérard leads the Women's category on 1,481 points in ninth place overall, with Céline Rault tenth on 1,460.

In the Two-Seater class, Svobodny & Fierain have moved to the head of the standings with 1,480 points, ahead of de Péchy & de Péchy on 1,419 and Christophe Abadie on 1,373. Chatelain & Beloeuil are fourth on 1,231 with Bernhard & Juszczak fifth on 1,224.
